QPR (Question, Persuade, Respond) is a suicide prevention technique for anyone who might be in a position to intervene and be a first responder in preventing a suicide (pretty much everybody).  It is being developed for use in online communications.

The QPR Institute launched the Online Suicide Intervention Specialist training program.

The Institute collaborated with several national and international organizations to build and beta test this new online training program to meet expressed educational and training needs.  Those who earn a Certificate of Course Completion complete a rigorous, 40 hour knowledge competency-based, interactive, multi-media online training program and must successfully pass more than 130 test questions and practice challenges.

The training program teaches the core competencies recommended by the American Association of Suicidology and the National Suicide Prevention Helpline. While some learners will be independent practitioners, most will be part of an organization currently providing crisis response via help lines and counseling services.

To learn more about the training goals and objectives go to http://www.qprinstitute.com/Joomla. A free tour of the course is available, as is Module 1 of the 10 module program.
