HB 4010—Payment Parity for Nurse Practitioners

This Bill requires insurers to reimburse NPs the same rate that they reimburse physicians when the NP provides the same service and bills under the same code: See the Bill [3]

The Oregon School-Based Health Care Network Board of Directors supports this legislation. Our SBHCs are primarily staffed with NPs and their value in the lives of children and adolescents is immeasurable.

The Oregon Nurses Association, the sponsor of the bill, encourages ACTION regarding the bill’s status as of February 7, 2012. It is has passed out of committee and may go the House Floor this week. They suggest language you might use to address a note to your state representative.

• Dear (State Representative): I urge you to vote YES vote on HB 4010- payment parity for Nurse Practitioners. These NPs provide vital primary and preventive care to many Oregonians—especially the 53,000 children and youth who use one of 63 school-based health centers across 22 Oregon counties. Please vote to restore equity in payments for Nurse Practitioners, as they provide and bill for services under the same code as physicians.
