Grassroots Leadership

2010 Community Forum - YOU are invited......
to an important discussion about the priorities of your community.

The Oregon Department of Human Services and Oregon Health Authority are hosting a series of statewide public forums this spring. We invite you to come share your ideas about local needs and priorities for the 2011–2013 budget and beyond.

View the invitation, with dates and locations here.

Meetings will take place throughout the state in April and May.

Save the Date for the 4th Annual Hands for Health Benefit!

The 4J "My Schools Health Centers" (Eugene) invite you to their annual fundraising event on Thursday, April 15, 2010.

The highlight of the evening will be the CHAIR Auction - first class bidding for two chairs that the TAC (Teen Advisory Council) students have refurbished with upscale, unique designs.

The chairs are the Council's signature promotional piece - they have opened many doors to Oregon's top leaders, allowing the Council high profile platforms on which to advocate for school-based health care.

Proceeds from this event will benefit "My School's Health Centers" in the 4J Eugene School District.

Tickets are $35.00.  Call 541-790-4445 for more information.

Special request for Nurse Practitioners in SBHCs

From Mary Dorr, RN, BSN, NASBHC member, PHd candidate
I am a graduate nurse practitioner student at Grambling State University pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing. As part of the fulfillment of the requirements for this degree, I am interested in investigating the health-promoting practices of nurse practitioners in School-Based Health Centers in reference to smoking cessation counseling.

If you are a nurse practitioner currently practicing in a School-Based Health Center I invite you to participate in this survey.  Your participation in this study will consist of completing two surveys that will take approximately 10-15 minutes.

By participating in the study, you will help nurse practitioners recognize the impact of their health-promoting practices and their ability to influence the health of adolescents.
